Union Station
and
Christopher Columbus Memorial Fountain
Union Station is much more than a place to catch a bus or the train, as any native Washingtonian can tell you. A great place to meet for a beer or an espresso, with an assortment of cafe's, restaurants and specialty shopping set against the back drop of architect Daniel Burnham's monumental splendor, circa 1907.
Christopher Columbus Memorial Fountain, celebration
of the famed explorer who discovered the New Word, was designed by Daniel Burnham and American Sculptor Loredo Taft. Funded through the efforts of the Knights of Columbus and the US Congress, the fountain was dedicated June 8, 1912
